Received training as mediator in 1994 through collaborative program between OR State Employment Dept and OR Public Employees Union.  Mediated workplace disputes in private and public sectors and renewed state certification to mediate Small Claims and Residential Evictions.  Certified trainer for Developmental Dimensions, Inc. and master graduate of Rapport Leadership International.  Conducted trainings in leadership, customer service, personal negotiations and conflict management.  Member in good standing with SHRM, volunteer mediator for the 2010 ABA Representation in Mediation Regional Competition in Eugene, OR.

Laurel Alvarez

Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Laurel began her career in Parole & Probation in 1983 retiring in 2004.  Currently Laurel is a Girl Scout supporter and Oregon Coast Lab Band supporter.  Laurel is now an active mediator for the courts, neighbor to neighbor, juvenile and foster family programs. She also volunteers as a trainer in the N2N basic mediation courses.

Carol Clayburn

Judge Don Costello, Treasurer

Founding Chief Judge, Coquille Indian Tribal Court, 1997.  Served as Judge for other Tribal governments and as municipal and state court judge.  Private arbitrator and mediator since 1979. Active member of Oregon state Bar since 1977 and former trial lawyer.  Competitive Masters rower. AB Anthropology, UC Berkeley (1970)   JD Lewis and Clark college (1976)

G. Wayne Bates

Currently employed with Douglas County Planning Dept. as a Code Compliance Officer. Served as Leadership Intern for Innovative Learning Group/Wings Seminar; EMT for Cascade Rescue and Emergency Services Team; School Advisory Committee for Portland Public Schools and Douglas County Environmental Inspection Specialist.  Completed Basic Mediation Training in 2008.

Linda Cline

Currently program manager for a Federal Drug Free Communities Grant program. The focus of grant program is to reduce and prevent youth drug use through collaborative efforts within the community to reduce the risk factors and promote protective factors Mother of 3 children.

Rebecca de Greyt

Currently VISTA Leader for UCAN.  VISTA member with Neighbor to Neighbor for one year in 2010. Established mentor program for new mediators.  Researched and selected curriculum for N2N Youth Conflict Resolution & Violence Prevention program for schools.  Mother of 2.

Steve Erickson

Currently working as an Intake Paralegal for Legal Aid Services of Oregon in Roseburg, Steve has been a mediator since 2001 and was on the Douglas County Neighbor to Neighbor Board in 2002-2004.  He graduated from Roseburg High School and has a BA in fine arts from Lewis and Clark College.  One of his current passions is music, and he plays in bands.  Another passion is the outdoors: he has been a tree planter a wilderness hiking instructor and guide, a back woods hermit and student of primitive living skills, and is currently a student of Zen.

Kathy Vejtasa

Since receiving her mediation training in 2000, Kathy has been mediating small claims cases for the Douglas County Circuit Court.  She is also on the board of the Douglas County Library Board, the Douglas County Library Foundation, and the Umpqua Valley Audubon Society.   She has taught job skills courses for Umpqua Community College.  Kathy holds a BA in Economics and an MBA.  She retired from a career as a market researcher and strategic planner in the energy sector and currently enjoys being an outdoor enthusiast.
